in minority languages
Everyone has the right to culture on equal terms
Johanssons pelargoner och dans created the THE CHOREOGRAPHY in 2016, which since its premiere has played around 500 performances in schools and theaters around Sweden. THE CHOREOGRAPHY is an interactive performance where the audience participants in small groups listen to instructions in each pair of headphones and together create the performance. In this project, we will translate the show into some of the official minority languages in Sweden.
In the project we will:
Translate THE CHOREOGRAPHY into Northern Sámi, Southern Sámi, Meänkieli, Arli Romani and Finnish.
Create a multicultural meeting place for people who speak different languages, where they get the opportunity to an equal exchange.
Contribute to increased knowledge of the performing arts' possibility to contribute to language revitalization.
The project is led by ANNA HAGLUND, KARIN WIKLUND & ANNICA STYRKE
With the support of STOCKHOLMS STAD, THE INSTITUTE FOR LANGUAGE AND FOLKLORE & THE SWEDISH ARTS COUNCIL
