About JPOD

Johanssons pelargoner och dans (JPOD) is a performing arts established in 2009. They create performances where the audience is involved physically, focusing on the bodily experience of those who participate.

Their work is usually aimed at children and young people and have a great interest in meeting people who might not have that much experience in performing arts. They think it is vital to create an inclusive, accessible and safe space in which the audience can explore.

Birgit Cullberg scholarship 2025

JPOD is run by Karin Wiklund and Annica Styrke – choreographers, dance teachers and dancers. Karin Wiklund and Annica Styrke are this years Birgit Cullberg-scholarship holders.

Excerpt from the citation:

"The working group for dance and circus highlights Johanssons pelargoner och dans’s versatile and innovative work with choreography for children and young people. Since its inception in 2009, the group has developed works that invite the audience to actively participate and that, through playfulness and physical exploration, raise questions about language, power, and identity. By challenging norms and exploring multilingualism as an artistic tool, JPOD has created performing arts that are inclusive, thought-provoking, and accessible to a wide audience – both nationally and internationally."
