“What do I have to do to get to do this again? I will do anything!"
- student in grade 7
"With the initial assurance that 'everything will be right in the choreography', a firm foundation is created that is required to dare to discover both the inner conflicts and the fields of tension, but also the exuberant joy and community that arises during the half hour of the act."
- Sara Meidel, Västerbottenskuriren 2017
“A wonderful community-building experience across generational and language boundaries. Extremely touching.”
- Johanna Salander, artistic director of Västerbottensteatern
THE CHOREOGRAPHY is an interactive performance that is based entirely on the participation of the audience. By following instructions in headphones, the audience creates the CHOREOGRAPHY together. With imaginary hamsters, confetti and bold movements, we investigate how the way we move can affect what we think and feel.
THE CHOREOGRAPHY is available in 19 languages. Each person chooses which language they want to listen to. In other words, people who do not speak a word of the same language can participate in the same performance and meet on equal terms.
Since its premiere in 2016, THE CHOREOGRAPHY has been performed over 700 times worldwide. The performance was selected for Bibu 2018 as well as Ice hot and Young Swedstage 2022.
The motivation of the Bibu jury:
In this piece the audience get the opportunity to change roles. Instead of being observers, we become co-creators. With the choreographers guiding us via our headphones, we are asked to participate using ourselves as tools, in a permissive space where we quickly realise that we cannot do anything wrong, but where all our movements are the right ones.
We discover that our morning routines actually consist of choreographies. We move together, we create common worlds. It is a performance or an adventure, but it is also a physical experience, an investigation of what motion is and what the body can tell us. This is interactive performing arts that make us happy, that are inspiring and allow everyone involved, for a short time, to be a co-creator of something that feels grand through small individual contributions.
