A site-specific performance in public libraries
FOLK//BIBLIOTEK is a performing arts project in which a site-specific and interactive performance will be created, that takes place in a public library. The audience – children and young people between the ages of 10-15 – will participate in the performance by following instructions in headphones and moving around in the library environment.
The performance invites the audience to a different and innovative way of visiting the library. Instead of going there as a regular visitor, the performance is an opportunity for an artistic exploration of the place.
The performance is created at the City Library in Uppsala in collaboration with Uppsala City Theater, to then be reworked and moved to 10 other public libraries around Sweden.
The project is part of a larger exploration of how performing arts can be used to make important public environments accessible to children and young people.
